CAMPUS PASTOR

Position Title: Campus Pastor

Status: Full Time

Reports to: Executive Pastor of Discipleship

Position Objective: To provide pastoral leadership and oversight to campus-specific teaching and  ministries that shepherd individuals in a lifestyle of following Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Explanation of Position Objective:

1.     “To provide pastoral leadership and oversight…”: The primary aim of this phrase is two-fold. First, it is expected that the person who fills this position is first and foremost a pastor/shepherd of God’s flock. In that, he should be recognized by the church as having met the characteristics of an Elder in the church (I Timothy 3, Titus 1). The task at hand is primarily pastoral in nature and thus requires personal commitments to spiritual growth as well as the professional ability to guide others toward spiritual vibrancy and protection. However, the task is not simply pastoral. This position requires a pastoral leader. In affirming this statement, this person should be gifted and committed to providing direction, vision and accountability to others under their leadership. The ability to cast vision, help others develop and implement practical goals and objectives, and the commitment to hold personnel and programs to stated levels of accountability and cohesion are vital in this role of leadership. (Ephesians 4:12)

2.     “…to select, campus specific ministries that shepherd individuals in a lifestyle of following Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior”: These ministries include various aspects of adult discipleship at Harvest including: assimilation/connections, group life and ministry, pastoral care, leadership development and teaching. Each of these ministries should have elements that specifically and measurably move persons to commitments, convictions and actions that demonstrate an ongoing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the faith family at Harvest.
