Baptism is a significant step in the life of the believer. Below are several reasons why we believe this is a necessary step for all who profess faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism demonstrates our love for Christ. Jesus said one of the ways we demonstrate our love for Him is by doing the things He commands, including baptism. John 14:21, 1 John 5:2
Baptism by immersion is a picture of Christ’s death and resurrection. The physical act of immersion tells the story that we were once dead in sin but have been raised to newness of life in Christ. Colossians 2:12; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:1-4
Baptism does not guarantee salvation. Salvation comes through personal faith in what Jesus Christ has already done for us. Baptism is the expression of what has already happened.
Baptism does not grant us extra favor with God. God already loves us. Baptism is one step of obedience and an outward expression of our inward decision to commit to being obedient to Jesus as Lord and Savior.
