  • What is the Harvest Summer Internship Program?
    A 10-week, post-high school development program designed for young men and women considering vocational ministry.

    What is the goal of the Harvest Summer Internship program?
    The program exists to provide interns with practical church ministry experience and leadership training under the supervision and mentorship of leaders at Harvest Church. Our goal is to see interns grow into future vocational ministry positions wherever God would send after completion of the program.

    What are the available ministry assignments within the Summer Internship Program?
    Interns will receive a primary assignment within a specific area of ministry at Harvest Church, where the majority of their training and hands-on experience will take place. In addition to this focused role, they will also gain exposure to the various ministries of Harvest throughout the internship. This allows interns to develop depth in one area while also seeing the broader life and work of the church.

    What is included in the Summer Internship experience?

    • Orientation: Overview of the DNA and Distinctives of Harvest Church.

    • Overview of ministries provided by specific ministry leaders to provide a basic understanding of the ministries of Harvest.

    • Shadowing and collaborating with assigned supervisor/mentor throughout the 10 weeks.

    • 2-3 projects assigned by their supervisor/mentor.

    • Post internship evaluation by supervisor/mentor.

    How many hours per week will interns be expected to work?
    Interns will work an average of 32 hours a week plus serving on the weekend, depending on the intern’s area of ministry.

    Do I need a car?
    Yes. Reliable transportation is needed for the internship.

    Do I need to provide my own laptop?
    Yes.

    Can I receive college credit?
    If your college or university offers Internship opportunities, we will work directly with your counselors and/or professors to ensure you meet all the necessary requirements.

    Is the Summer Internship a paid opportunity?
    Yes. Interns will receive $500 per week.

  • What is the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship?
    A part-time, flexible ministry experience that is designed to develop emerging leaders who are interested in considering the potential of vocational ministry within the local church.

    What are the objectives of the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship?

    1. Exploration – Exposure to the various ministries of Harvest Church and its culture to learn what it’s like to serve on a ministry team within a local church

    2. Experience - Hands on ministry experience that will allow apprentices to strengthen necessary skills through ministry practice in a safe, learning-based environment

    3. Encouragement & Equipping- Mentoring and training under the guidance of an assigned member of the Harvest ministry staff

    4. Spiritual Formation - Growth and maturity in the apprentice’s personal walk with Jesus

    5. Harvest Immersion – Understanding the DNA and Distinctives of the ministry of Harvest Church

    Who are the ideal candidates for the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship

    • College students with flexible schedules who live near the North Indy area

    • College students attending remotely who live in the North Indy area

    • Members of Harvest Church who are considering a transition from the marketplace into vocational ministry who have flexible work schedules

    • Retirees interested in using their time and gifts to serve in the local church

    • High School Seniors who have work study programs and/or flexible school schedules

    When does the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship begin and end?
    The program is designed to occur throughout a ministry year beginning in August and concluding in May.  However, semester options may be considered. (Aug-Dec or Jan-May)

    What is the weekly time commitment for the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship?
    Apprentices serve between 5-10 hours per week on a day(s) to be agreed upon between the apprentice and his/her supervisor

    What are the available ministry assignments within the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship?
    Apprentices will receive a primary assignment within a specific area of ministry of Harvest Church in which the majority of their equipping will occur but will receive exposure to the various ministries of Harvest throughout the apprenticeship in order to provide a general education on the whole of local church ministry

    Is the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship a paid opportunity?​Yes. Apprentices will receive an hourly salary

    What is the application process for participation in the Harvest Ministry Apprenticeship?
    The first step is to complete the Leadership Development Application.  Applications are due by April 30th for entry into the program for the upcoming  ministry year. After application review, the candidate will receive a response indicating rejection or entry into the formal interview process. Offers will be communicated no later than May 31st of each year.

  • What is the Harvest Ministry Residency?
    A two-year ministry experience that is designed to equip and educate college graduates in preparation for effective full-time ministry within the local church.

    What are the objectives of the Harvest Ministry Residency?

    1. Experience - Hands on ministry experience that will allow Residents to strengthen necessary skills through ministry practice in a learning-based environment within the local church

    2. Education - Masters-level continuing education with Harvest partnering, accredited theological seminaries

    3. Harvest Immersion – Understanding the DNA and Distinctives of the ministry of Harvest Church

    4. Ministry of the Word - Training and equipping in the study, preaching, and teaching of God’s Word

    5. Spiritual Formation- Growth and maturity in the Resident’s personal walk with Jesus

    What does a typical weekly schedule look like for a Harvest Ministry Resident?

    Monday – Harvest ministry work within assigned area(s) of responsibility

    Tuesday – Participation in Harvest All-Staff meeting, Departmental meetings, and Mentor/Coaching meeting

    Wednesday – Training Day (Curriculum, Mentoring/Coaching)

    Thursday – Seminary Day

    Friday – Off/Overflow

    Saturday – Off/Overflow

    Sunday – Worship Service/Ministry responsibilities

    What are the available ministry assignments within the Harvest Ministry Residency?
    Residents will receive a primary assignment within a specific area of ministry of Harvest Church in which the majority of their equipping will occur. They also will receive exposure to the various ministries of Harvest throughout the two-year residency in order to provide a general education of local church ministry.

    Is the Harvest Ministry Residency a paid opportunity?
    Yes. Residents will receive a full-time salary, benefits and housing accommodations or stipend.

    When does the Harvest Residency begin and end?
    The Residency typically begins the first week of August and concludes in June of the second full ministry year. (For example: August 2026-June of 2028)

    Upon completion of the Residency, will Residents receive a full-time ministry position at Harvest Church?
    It is our desire that open ministry positions be filled by participants in our Leadership Development programs. However, we cannot guarantee full-time employment, as hiring is always an intersection of opportunity and need. 

    What is the application process for participation in the Harvest Ministry Residency?
    The first step is to complete the Leadership Development Application. Applications are due by March 15th for fall entry into the Residency. After application review, the candidate will receive a response indicating rejection or entry into the formal interview process. Offers will be communicated no later than April 30th of each year

  • What is the Harvest Church Planting Residency?
    A one or two-year Residency designed to prepare Biblically qualified men to plant faithful reproducing churches in Central Indiana and other strategic cities. The Residency combines practical “hands on” pastoral experiences, academic instruction and pastoral mentorship.

    What are the objectives of the Harvest Church Planting Residency?

    1. Know Harvest – Immersion in the DNA, the Distinctives and the Philosophy of the ministry of Harvest Church.

    2. Strengthen Leadership  – Expand planter’s theological understanding of Biblical Leadership. Equip planter with the leadership values and practices necessary to launch and lead a healthy church

    3. Sharpen Preaching- Expand planter’s theological understanding of preaching and provide training on how to prepare, construct, and deliver expositional, applicational sermons. Provide preaching “reps”  in multiple environments to receive feedback to sharpen preaching skills

    4. Plant the Church – Personal and organizational training and development in preparation to launch a healthy church

    5. Launch the Church – On-going coaching to provide encouragement and support for the leader and the church from its launch through the 2nd year

    What is Harvest looking for in candidates that apply to the Harvest Church Planting Residency?  

    • Demonstration of humility, teachability, and zeal for the Kingdom, who possess a burden to preach the Word and shepherd God’s people within the local church

    • A healthy marriage – the fruit of a rightly balanced life with evidence of a strong friendship and partnership with his wife

    • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in ministry preferred

    • Three years or more pastoral/ministry experience within the local church preferred

    • Alignment with Harvest theology and philosophy of ministry

    The Residency offers both one and two year programs. How is the duration of my residency determined? During the interview process, Harvest leadership and future residents will mutually agree upon the optimum plan for each respective Resident that will best equip them to plant a healthy church. 

    What does a typical work week look like for Harvest Church Planting Residents?

    Monday – Harvest ministry work within assigned area(s) of responsibility

    Wednesday – Planter Training Day (Planter Curriculum, Mentoring/Coaching)

    Thursday – Church Plant Day (pre-launch responsibilities/preparations)

    Sunday – Worship Service/Ministry responsibilities

    Residents are assigned an experienced Mentor/Supervisor from the Harvest staff.  What are the expectations for Mentors/Supervisors for the Harvest Church Planting Residency?

    Weekly Mentoring Meeting – Supervisors meet weekly with Residents to ensure progress toward residency objectives and to invest in the professional, personal, and spiritual development of residents 

    Special Meetings – The supervisors will identify key ministry leaders within the staff and church for Residents to meet with to strengthen understanding of ministries within the local church

    Evaluations – Mentor/supervisors will be responsible for completing regular evaluations to measure progress against Residency objectives and will meet with Residents to discuss the evaluations

    When does the Harvest Church Planting Residency begin?
    Residency begins in August.
