Children are a gift from the Lord. (Psalm 127:3)

At Harvest Church, we believe parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children. God has entrusted them with the incredible responsibility of raising their children to know, love, and follow Him. Child Dedication is an opportunity for parents to publicly express their desire to faithfully lead their children in the nurture and instruction of the Lord while inviting their church family to encourage and support them along the way.

As parents, we are called to diligently teach our children about who God is and what He has done for them (Deuteronomy 6:4–7). Child Dedication is not about making a commitment on behalf of your child—it is about making a commitment as parents to intentionally point them to Christ every day.

Child Dedication is an intentional Saturday morning experience designed to give families time to celebrate, connect, and be equipped.

Before You Participate

Parents participating in Child Dedication must:

  • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Complete Harvest's Family Foundations class (required if you have not attended Child Dedication Class within the past two years).

What Is Family Foundations?

Family Foundations is a 90-minute experience designed to equip and encourage parents as they seek to build Christ-centered homes.

During this evening, you'll:

  • Explore a biblical vision for parenting.

  • Learn practical ways to disciple your children at home.

  • Discover how Harvest partners with parents throughout every stage of childhood.

  • Connect with other parents walking the same journey.

Childcare is provided.

What Happens at the Child Dedication Celebration?

Our Child Dedication Celebration is designed to be more than a ceremony—it's a meaningful morning for your whole family.

During the event, you'll enjoy:

  • A special dedication service where you'll publicly commit to raising your child to know and follow Jesus

  • Resources to explore and purchase

  • Opportunities for family pictures

  • A light brunch

We encourage you to invite grandparents, extended family, your Life Group, and close friends to celebrate this important milestone and join you in supporting your family's commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member of Harvest Church?

No. Membership is not required to participate in Child Dedication. However, you must be a regular attender at Harvest.

That said, we believe following Jesus is meant to be lived in community. Our desire is for every family to be connected to a local church where they can be encouraged, challenged, and supported as they disciple their children.

Who can participate?

Any parent or legal guardian who is committed to following Jesus and desires to raise their child in a Christ-centered home is welcome to participate.

I attended the Child Dedication class previously. Do I need to attend Family Foundations?

If you attended our Child Dedication class within the past two years, you do not need to attend Family Foundations. Otherwise, Family Foundations is required prior to participating in Child Dedication.

Can older siblings attend the Child Dedication Ceremony?

Absolutely! We want this to be a family friendly event where you all can celebrate together.
