Harvest could not exist without the faithful work of our staff.  We get the honor of taking care of a place where God’s people meet to worship, hear from Him, and grow in their walk with Him. We help foster the growth and edification of Christ’s Church and community. We are the hands that help our ministers do their work well. 

Our ES team primarily keeps our campus clean and tidy through routine cleaning, sanitization and organizing. We maintain Harvest’s building and grounds primarily to be good stewards of what God has entrusted us, and for the safety/comfort of our attendees, visitors, employees, and guests.

Professional Qualifications:

What is needed to do the work?

  • Experience: Not required but preferred in a church setting.

  • Willingness: To be flexible with the schedule of events in our church setting.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift/move up to 25 lbs. or more. Must be able to climb and work from a 6’ ladder as needed.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety protocols is helpful (e.g., OSHA standards), along with the operation of commercial cleaning equipment (although not a requirement).

  • Time Management: Strong capability to manage time efficiently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.  Willingness to potentially and periodically work evening/night hours.

  • Communication: Basic reading and math skills to read labels and instructions; strong observational skills to report hazards.

  • Prior to hiring, the ES staff member will need to complete and pass a background check.

  • The ES staff member must be 18 years of age or older. 

Position Description

What does our Environmental Services staff do?   

Responsibilities 

  • Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors routinely and in proportion to their need and type of flooring.

  • Restroom Cleaning/Sanitation: Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and restock all restrooms with necessary supplies (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet paper).

  • Waste Management: Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.

  • Surface Disinfection: Clean and/or dust furniture, fixtures, walls, countertops, tops of equipment, and glass surfaces. Disinfect high-touch areas like door handles, lower door windows and light switches.

  • Facility Upkeep: Keep the janitorial/supply closets clean, organized, and properly stocked.

  • Minor Maintenance: Immediately report any necessary repairs needed on any cleaning equipment, tools, or building elements to the Director of Facilities.

  • Building Security: Close and make sure all doors are locked and secure after the scheduled work is completed.

  • Exterior/Interior Duties (as needed): Clean and straighten walk-off mats, sweep exterior walkways, clear entryways, and assist with snow care (light salting at entrances) if needed.  

What will it be like to work here?

Working Conditions 

  • Work typically occurs indoors but will require some outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions

  • Involves handling cleaning solvents, water, equipment, and occasionally unpleasant messes

Working Hours 

Paid ES staff must be able to work a minimum of four (4) hours per week and up to a maximum of 15 hours per week.  *These hours may vary due to event schedules and the number of other staff needing hours.
