Position Title: Pastor, Multiplication/Sending
Status: Full Time
Reports to: Lead Pastor/Executive Pastor of Ministries
Position Objective: To shepherd individuals toward the regular engagement of God’s mission in their lives and to provide leadership to the local/global mission and church planting ministries of the church.
Explanation of Position Objective:
“To shepherd individuals toward the regular engagement of God’s mission in their lives”: It is expected, first and foremost, that the person who fills this position is committed to the high calling of shepherding God’s flock. In that, he should be recognized by the church as one who meets the characteristics of an Elder in the church (I Timothy 3, Titus 1) Furthermore, he must be committed to the ongoing discipleship of individuals in the church. Shepherd leadership requires personal commitment to one’s own spiritual growth as well as thepossession of the professional ability to guide others toward spiritual vibrancy and protection. This leader is to make it their task to shepherd God’s people in the specific areas of disciple-making, service, evangelism and mission. By working with individuals and small groups, this leader will help the Harvest family maintain and increase in their calling and commitment to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This position requires a pastoral leader who is missional in his personal commitments and who thrives in helping others pursue God’s glory in the local area and in the nations.
“…and to provide leadership to the local and global mission ministries of the church”: Furthermore, it is expected that this person should be gifted and committed to providing direction, vision and accountability to others under their leadership. The ability to cast vision, help others develop and implement practical goals and objectives, and the commitment to hold personnel and programs to stated levels of accountability are vital in this role of leadership. This individual will be responsible for the administration and coordination of local and global mission ministries, especially church planting, and is effective as he mobilizes people to meaningful and long-term disciple-making around the world. By philosophy, Harvest’s global and local mission expressions include a strong teaching emphasis on personal disciple-making. This is vital to accomplish the goal of mobilizing as many as possible to fulfill the Great Commission through strategic church planting and disciple making in high impact and unreached populations.
Spiritual and Character Qualifications:
The Pastor of Multiplication/Sending should:
Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing personal relationshipwith Him
Have a history of moral purity
Meet the biblical qualifications of an Elder (I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
Be a self-starter with drive, passion and initiative
Be teachable and willing to be held accountable
Be a team player with a positive attitude, willing to uphold and champion the Harvest Church staff culture
Be a ministry partner willing to voice concern and disagreement in a respectable way while following accepted relationships of authority, responsibility and leadership
Professional Qualifications:
At least 5 years in a full-time Christian ministry position with direct, measurable avenues of discipleship/mission inherent to the position
Required Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Preferred Master’s degree from an accredited Bible/Christian college or seminary
Enthusiastically embrace the doctrine, mission and ministry philosophy of Harvest Church
Must be able to articulate a biblical philosophy of personal discipleship, spiritual growth and disciple-making
Must be able to articulate a biblical philosophy of church planting, missions and compassion ministry
Must be familiar with current philosophies and trends in church ministry with regards to missions, evangelism and compassion ministries
Must have clear evidence of church planting implementation consistent with Send Network expectations
Must be able to lead others effectively in appropriate authority/responsibility relationships
Must be able to cast vision, strategically plan and maintain programs that will allow for an expectant environment of mission engagement
Position Description:
Plan, implement and direct all aspects of the Church Planting ministry at Harvest
Plan, implement and direct all aspects of the Global Mission ministry at Harvest
Plan, implement and direct all aspects of the Local Outreach ministry at harvest
Instruct and mentor individuals in the personal conviction and process of disciple-making
Oversee the Harvest Church Planting Residency in collaboration with the Lead Pastor
Communicate to, encourage and lead Harvest Church planters toward established benchmarks of sustainability and plant health consistent with Harvest Church expectations and Send Network protocol
Work alongside church planting residents to help facilitate outreach in potential church plant settings
Help to facilitate an understanding and greater commitment to disciple-making and mission through the D-Groups ministry at Harvest
Lead or participate in Group life at Harvest
Preach in Harvest Church or church plant worship services as needed
